So I have had a 10 gallon tank up and running for about a month, with two amano shrimp in it. I want to do a heavily planted tank. I have a couple of well, a lot of questions
1. What kind of plants can I put in that are literally bulletproof? So far I was thinking java moss, a moss ball or two, java fern, and after that I'm not sure what I'd be able to keep alive.
2. I have been researching and as always I find a lot of contradicting answers. If I have a heavily planted tank with only shrimp in it does it need to have a filter? I have a hob one now, that I can put something over the intake to not suck up babies or small ones. But do I really NEED one? I don't want to spend more money to get an air pump and a sponge filter or anything, I don't really want a filter at all. I'll be doing 10 to 15% water changes weekly.
3. Also, I want to remove the lid and just clip on a reading light or something so it has light I just don't want the hood. Would that be an issue?
4. I don't have a heater, but all I'm really planning on keeping for a while is red cherry shrimp and the 2 amanos. So is that okay?
5. Also, does anyone know where I can order cherry shrimp for cheap? People one cl NEVER reply to my e mails. And I'm looking for them 50 cents to a dollar each.
I know there's more but I can't seem to think of the rest. Thank you!! Sorry for so many questions :}

1. Anubias
Amazon Swords
Java Fern
Hairgrass
Crypts
Mosses

2. I'd research the Walstead method of planting tanks if you don't want a filter, not easy and if your new to plants I'd suggest loads of research or yes, use a filter for the flow and disposal of ammonia as some shrimp are sensitive.

3. Depends how powerful the light is, also some shrimp will jump out of open topped tanks.

4. If you acclimatize them very slowly they should be ok, I've kept Cherrys in cold water before and they've been completely fine.

5. Dunno I'm from the UK lol I sell them for that price but I'm a long way from you.

So you would suggest just keeping the filter?? And I've got a lucky bamboo stalk out of the tank and amanos (which are known to crawl out of tanks) but they haven't crawled out or anything so I guess i'll just be careful with it! And they're like 4-6 dollars here.
