Hi all fish lover,

Im new to this forum, nice to meet all of you. Wishing all a Happy Chinese New Year

I have a 4ft by 1.5ft tank given by my bro. I intent to set up a plant tank.

Is not a overflow tank, just a normal tank. Im sourcing for a cabinet for the tank. Anyone have any lobang for the cupboard?

I have seen beautiful plant tanks in aquarium, last seen is the one at seletar farm 1 (Nayang). I wanted to have a plant tank like this. Can anyone give advice or anyone want to help up? Of cos, I will pay for the service...

regards

Hi guppy1489 and welcome to TFF!

We like to call what you're asking about "the Planted Tank" hobby. Its grown to be a hobby unto itself and is very popular. We have a whole subforum devoted to it and of course there are other sources of information out there. It is very good to take the time to do some planning before you really start buying things because the equipment can be very important to the planted tank hobby. Good Luck and I hope to see you some over in the Planted tank forum.

I believe the Planted Tank hobby has become even more popular in Asian countries than in US or UK now. Many of the highest rank tanks in the ADA contest this year were from the western side of the Pacific Rim. This makes me think there must be plenty of people practicing the hobby in Singapore. I, however, do not know of any supply places there.

It is also still fairly uncommon to find clients requesting and artists supplying high quality aquascaped tanks on the service market. Most of that trade is still just for fish oriented display aquariums, with very little emphasis on the plants. Part of this is that plants need much fussier attention on a day to day basis if its a high-tech tank, which most "pay for service" tanks would be.

I encourage you to make an adventure out of it! Keep doing internet searches. Keep telephoning people. Keep asking people around Singapore. You never know where your first "clue" will come from!

If you decide to continue trying to learn the hobby yourself, just stick with it. In my opinion its quite a bit harder than fish but the planted hobbyists give me a hard time for saying that! It probably takes a few years of effort to start to have some real success with plants that are not just the easy ones.
