Hi,
forgotten hw to work this website so if u find this post in a totally RANDOM place i apologize! lol

History:
have had fish for about a year now...
currently have a small 15gallon tank with
1 gold angel fish
1 guppie (yes its alive!) lol
2 x these striped thingys (cant memba wat they are called right now but they are orange with black stripes!)
1 x pleco.

am going to get a BIG tank... and wanted to set up a malawi style one. this is my list (have no experience wth cichlids so advice would be appreciated!)

am thinking of:

6 x pseudotropheus estherae
6 x pseudotropheus socolofi
6 x labeotropheus trewavase

what do you guys think of this??? good combo??? any ideas of a better combination? tank will have plenty of rocky hiding places etc...

ps. anyone know what i could have instead of the labeotropheus trewavase??? havent entirely decided i like those yet but yea... anything better??! i want LOTS of colour in my tank :)

thanku :)

How big is this big tank going to be? It makes a difference.

Have yellow labs instead, then you'll have orange, blue, and yellow. Estherae or on my list next, then i'll have yellow, blue, and orange.

I'm not sure about aggression levels between males but you might want to check that out and see if you can get 1 or 2 males out of your 6.

ok yea thanx...
most fish shops cant tell the sex of the fish so i think that is going to be a bit of a mission!
can u get pink/red fish wthout having to get jewels???...

also yellow labs r my favourite but i have been told that they are not as hardy as the other species of cichlids/???? and that they require special tank/water conditions? is this true???
because thats the only reasons i didnt want to get them because i dont have a lot of experience and wanted a malawi tank where the conditions suit ALL of the fish :)

the tank will be 150+ litres
/???
not sure of the requirements for cichlids... help would be appreciated! :)oh and also, are socolofi overly agressive? because estherae have been thought of in the past as a more peaceful type compared to the others...
