I have two large male angels. One is in a 55gl and the other a 75gl. The meds are very expensive, and I really don't want to treat the whole tank. Treating for bacteria. Anywho, I have a 10gl tank that is not being used, but do not have all the required supplies to set up a whole new tank. The meds call for four days of treatment, and no filter equipment only areation (sic).

Can I put these two guys in the 10gl with an airstone and their meds just for four days following the instructions? I have had these fish for a long time and don't want to loose them. I will start the tank with water drawn from their tanks and go from there. Be advised that NO ONE else in their tanks are showing any symptoms of any sickness. Must be an angel thing?

Hence, large male angels fight (live and learn). Will this be a problem for such a short time and nothing being in the tank but them?

Also, someone on this site told me to treat for bacteria, but I was looking for the cheap way out having to treat three large tanks (hahaha). Now that I have been through the fungi meds, and the parasites meds I am going with the bacteria meds. I have cost myself a fortune. None of the other fish have shown any sign of sickness. The angels act fine except for these tufts in their sides that will not go away.

Help.. want to do the right thing.

I would get a second 10 gallon & treat them in seperate tanks. Unless they are a breeding pair there is a good chance that two adult male angels in a 10 together will be a bloodbath. If you only use an airstone you will need to do 50% water changes daily. An alternative would be to use a sponge filter with some gravel from a mature tank piled on top. This should be enough bio filtration to keep ammonia & nitrite down.

Posting the meds you used, the med you plan on using, as well as a pic of the sick fish will help. Any links to previous problems will help as well.

10 gallons, one at a time would be perfect. Most meds have directions that call for dosing amounts per 10 gallons, anyways.

You can visit one of the several Wally Worlds in Charleston, SC and get another 10 gal tank for $9.84 (I know it was less than $10).

I know you mentioned bacteria treatment, but those tufts...are you dealing with a fungus problem as well?

I have no idea what is going on with my angels. Again, they are in separate tanks because of fighting. They both seem to have the same symptoms which popped up about three months ago. Not getting worse, but there. Kind of like you know it's not right??? They are eating and acting fine except for their appearance. Each have a couple of tuffs on their sides. None of their other tanks mates have any symptoms.

I treated with fungus meds (first with jungle, and then with maroxy). Then I treated with parasite meds (Jungle). Keep in mind I am treating the whole tank (very expensive), and waiting a week in between meds. This also includes water changes. I have now bought tetracycline, but this S*@T is very expensive. I follow the instructions to the tee.

I have heard of it before, but how do you make a sponge filter? Also, you suggest another 10gl tank. Not a problem, but for only four days is it necessary?

I just don't want to loose them. I have had them for apx. four years, they are very large and beautiful. Really make the tanks special.

I am still learning how to work the digital camera (guess I need to join the 21st century), so pics might be forthcoming.
Thanks for any assistance.
