Hi I've bought an 94x15x25 tank :0 I've had several tanks years ago all tropical and always used the under gravel filters which actually didn't do a bad job but my largest tank was 4ft..
Question is what is the best filter to use on this one? I believe with this size external is the way to go but still so many options..
2 x external canister filters or 1 big one?
1 external and a sump? Makes? Models?
Also 2 or 3 heaters in the tank and/ or 1 in the sump?
I'm not adverse to a bit of DIY but I'm not drilling holes in glass...
Any help and advice greatly appreciated and thank you in advance.
Oh costs involved would be grand too :)

What do you want to keep in there? Plants? If you look for cheap and low maintenance go for Hamburg mat filter (HMF).

I really don't think a Hamburg mat filter will be good enough for an 8 foot tank.

You are however only talking around 130 gallons, but the 8 foot length could prove a stumbling block. I would go with an Eheim 2080 and a good strong power head  to eliminate dead spots.

2 fluval fx6, rrp £225 each, so £450 on those 2 filters

One filter each end, flows directed same way, but one angled more to surface for agitation.

Best filter ive ever bought.
