I had a 10g tank lying around my garage fir quite some time so I thought that I'd make useful of it. This is not my first tank and have been accompanied by many of my other tanks.
Although this is my first 10g tank (as for I have done larger). I'm thinking of a planted tank with these fish in mind.

3 or 4 - tiger barbs

3 - corydoras

6 zebra danios, or cardinal tetras

The tiger barbs might be a little big for that tank, but I'd like to know your suggestion. The other thing I'd be worried about is the barbs nipping the danios or tetres (why I chose active ones).

Thanks.

Thats too many fish for a 10 gallon tank. I'd stick with 3 corys and the 6 danios or cardinal tetras. And as you said, having less than 6 Tiger Barbs will be flirting with agression.

Is there any set-up I can do with tiger barbs in a 10g?

You could do about 4 tiger barbs and 4 bottom dwelling fish, like cories, bristlenose plecos, or something other peaceful and small without a lot of finnage.

Ok, so here we go.

4 - tiger barbs
4 - Corydoras

What about adding 2 kuhli loaches in with that?

Do bristle nose plecos get very big? I'd be worried about having a pleco in a 10g

I wouldn't put any Tiger Barbs in a 10G; you need at least 6 to curb any aggression towards any tankmates, plus they need a LOT of swimming space - they're very active fish. Cardinals shouldn't be added to a tank until it's fully cycled then matured for at least 5-6 weeks, preferably longer.

I think the 10g is probably too small for tiger barbs, too. You could go with some cherry barbs, or serpae tetras. As an alterative to the cories, you could go with some rubber-lip plecos - unlike the other plecos which you're basically playing russian roulette that they're not going to get 20 feet long, they stay quite small - about 3 inches or so.
