small grained black gravel (with fertiliser substrate)

sumatra wood branch in the middle

small a few small rounded cobbles

PLANTING:

Glosso carpet at front

One crptocoryne at the back

some java moss tied to one of the branches and perhaps a cobble

FILTERS, HEATERS, ETC:

Fluval U2

25 watt heater

Whats an ideal light fitting?

STOCKING:

Rasbora Hengelii, (how many)

Cherry shrimp (how many)

any other suggestions?

Cant advise on lighting, but 10 x rasbora and 10x cherries (who will mulitply quickly).

get an small external like the eden 501, thats what i regret from my nano, plus get the smallest and best looking heater you can find, you dont want a huge block in the tank, all sounds good, for substrate fert use tropica. for light you will need about 2 arc pods, or something similar, ideally you would want about 20w of light, that should be enough for thouse plants, but you may also want to look into having more plants, that seems minimalistis. also you wll need ferts, c02 and a good alrounder. have you thought about c02, you have 2 options, easycarbo/ae aquacarbon, which will e a daily dose, does just the same as c02 infusion, or DIY c02, the bottle of yeast and all that faffing about, i would use AQUA ESSENTIALS aquacarbon, its cheap... and then for a good fert, you will need TPN+, this contains NP&K, im not sure if you will understand all of this, just ask for more info if you dont

id like to breed the rasbora in there because i know they lay eggs on cyptocoryne leaves, whats the best one for that?


will the shrimp be the only clean up crew i need? or will a couple of ottos be good as well?

you will need either some shrimp and 4 otto's
or some shrimp and some snails.....snails clean the glass well(eat the diatoms)

dont have the little capsuals, i think its much better adding little daily.

not sure about the rasbora, but if it were me i would have, red-eye tetra's, ember tetras, cherry shrimp and snails

thats why i said snails, ottos like to be in numbers, 4 is all you could get away with, less than that would be cruel, stick to snails

i dont think so, if you are worried about having to do it everyday, dont be, it only takes 10 seconds, just do it when you have fed the fish... or you could add it weekly, but i havnt tried this, i have only tried daily, with great effects

good luck, oh and get a substrate with finer bits, the plants will prefer to be in sand

struggling to find much mate, i would just go for 2x 11w arc pods, you can get them second hand quite cheap, or around £20 new(lowest price i have found) but they will need some new light tubes(even if you get new) because they come with horrible purple lights, not very nice, but i brought some online, 2 pin 11w tubes from lampspecs, i have a few spare if you want to buy some
