I just want to know if serpae tetras do well in planted aquariums, and if so, what plants to avoid, if any
any additional info on serpaes could help, if anyone has anything

It's not that people don't like them - there's a lot of popular fish that get nippy (or worse). it just means they don't mix well with some tankmates.

serpaes do well in planted tanks and are not bit plant eaters. They will nip the fins on fish like angels, male guppies and siamese fighting fish but get along well with other barbs and tetras.

Silver dollars and Pacus eat plants.

ok, i thought they were fine with plants, i just wanted to make sure
also i don't think serpaes are good with any gouramis either, i had some before i got the serpaes, i gave the gouramis away anyways, so it's not a big deal now

dont put them with the more delicate tetras and rasboras, they do well with barbs, danios, and the larger species of tetra, other hyphessobrycon species work well.

I have been keeping my serpaes with pearl and dwarf gouramis for almost 2 years now. No probs. Just make sure that you have at least 5-6 serpaes so the nipping is between them, and they don't go after other tank mates.

I wanted robust tetras for my gouramis, and this has turned out very well. No need to give your gouramis away!

Well i had a plan for my tank so i needed to get rid of my gouramis, and at the time there were four serpaes, and now i have eight, so the nipping would have been more spread out, but still... I miss my gouramis, but i gave them to my dad, who i don't live with, but they're doing well :good:
