I’ve had this individual serpae tetra for over a year now and it’s begun to develop little brown marks on its belly (that appear to be internal showing through translucence) and kinda looks bloated

While I appreciate your impatience for an answer, I don't see anything wrong with your fish. It looks like a female with eggs compared to the little male in your last pic. Hopefully someone else can be more "insightful".

This is not a good way to get answers. You might try to be less confrontational if you want our help. We're all just hobbyists here & we do try to help based on our experiences.

I apologize for my frustration I had posted on multiple forums a few days prior as well and hadn't gotten any responses and got anxious was more so airing it at the wall wasn't sure if this was active or not but I do apologize. The brown spots appear normal to you? I was just concerned as none of the other tetras have any of those spots and that was relatively new as I had recently cleaned the algae off my glass after letting it sit for a few weeks and noticed it (still doing water changes) but definitely wasn't a feature it had prior. I appreciate that you responded despite my last message.

It's ok, I was a bit harsh to you too. So, let's just start over.

Welcome to the forums! I pretty new here but I've kept fish for 40+ years.

I haven't seen a disease that looks like that. Could it be a wound from other fish; an impatient male? Did any ever look red or maybe it happened before you algae scraped? What other fish do you have? How many? What sizes?

Could it be poo? I've not seen that brown spot look, nor have I seen tetras poop. Does she eat? What do you feed? Swim & act normal? Hide off by herself?

Please tell us all about your tank, size, fish, water parameters (tap & tank), maintenance routine, everything!! lol. New fish or plants lately?

I would continue with frequent water changes. That's my first line of defense too, when something looks "off". I don't think it's an emergency situation. There are some folks here who might know what's going on (if anything). Without a better idea, please don't just randomly dose meds, salt etc. We in the US can get lots of "stuff" (antibiotics, wormers, etc) but you need to have a better idea than "brown spots". Meds of any kind are stressful to fish, so the wrong choice isn't going to help & may make things worse.

I'm sorry I can't help you more.

I appreciate the response, I found it weird aswell as when I had tried to look into it I couldn't find anyone with a similar situation. I wouldn't believe its a wound its hard to see on camera but it looks like its behind its translucent outer layer they weren't ever red I don't believe but It likely happened in the few week period before I had scraped the algae but prior it looked normal I've had that individual tetra for around 2 years I doubt it as it's been around a week of showing that symptom she still eats fine schools tightly with the rest. Fed a mixture of mysis & spirulina brine shrimp + dried algae sheets with occasional flakes thrown in 125 gallon, I cannot accurately remember what the paramaters of my tank were but they were considered on the high end ideal for dwarf rainbowfish which would've been fine for any other species I had its around 7 hardness or ph amononia/ nitrites 0 nitrate around 20 it was the last of 2 serpae tetra i had remaining recently filled in the school around a month and a half ago and the rest seem healthy but housed with an african featherfin redtailed shark 4 opaline gouramis a peacock eel and a school of spotted sds waterchanges usually 10% a week the aquarium is overfiltered (equivalent rating to a 220 gal)

Well, keep up the water changes, go for more than 10% if you can. I like to keep nitrate under 20ppm, that's kind of the maximum to me.

& I'd like to know if you get an answer to the brown spots & what to do about them, if anything. Here or anywhere, I like to learn new things.
I have to ask what are spotted sds? I probably should know, but my mind is blank ATM, lol.
