hi having a think about changing my gourami for a siamese fighter, with the serpae tetras will they be to agressive and nip all his fins??

Thanks
Jodie

serpae, red eye, beunos aires, columbian & black widow/ skirt tetras are all fin nippers and will usually have a go at fish with long fins, (male fighters, angelfish & guppies). it's not a good idea to mix them.

oh :( is there any other centre piece fish for a 15g with serpa, cherry barbs and platys

(as my female gourami died a week ago and my male is starting to get dropsy and ive read the damage may be done)

Thansk Jodie

I wouldn't add any new fish for at least a month after the fish have died. If they are developing dropsy it could be from a dirty tank, (dirty gravel or filter), or they have a nasty internal bacterial infection. If you add a new fish now it could catch the problem and die as well.
Most gouramis should be fine with those fish or a short fin male Betta, but avoid the long fin varieties. You could go for a peaceful South American cichlid like a Geophagus of some sort, or a keyhole cichlid, or a pr of rams or Apistogramma cacatuoides.

heres an idea, might sound a bit odd but hear me out
how about a big aquatic snail!!!
i have seen pics of some that look really cool with multi coloured shells and its something pretty different for a center piece
