SERIOUS BETTA PROBLEM

Careful with that heater because since it's a 100 watt it will really, really heat up a small bowl. You could get a large tub and put him in there. It won't be the fanciest set up in the world but it will at least be more water....and not a death trap.

Use clean,dechlorinated water.

come to think of it there is another tank here that was used to house a rainbow crab, i could clean that out.

i dont have any suction cups for the heater tho so can i just sit it in the corner of the tank?

That will work so much better, set it on like 74-76,just so it doesn't get too warm. Is it submersible? If so,it should be ok propped up. You can get replacement suction cups later for super cheap.

I probably wouldn't put him back into that tank. If it were another fish it might be a repeat offender, and if it were hardware I'd definately check out if it might harm others as well. It certainly wasn't a good idea for the betta. We get reasonably cheap little Betta tanks 1.5-2 gallons set ups for about $20-$30 AUD, not sure in your currency, but they might be cheaper for you anyways to do a second hand tank eventurally. But that crab one might be completely fine anyways, just get a little decoration for it and some plants and he'll be a happy Betta. That's the most important thing :fish: :fish: :fish:

I know this may seem rather grim but here is a picture (link only) of it after death. As you can see the damage endured was massive, can anyone shed any light on whether it is an attack or disease?

Am really upset :(:(:(:(:(:(

Not going to chance getting another one, couldnt believe it when i checked on him this morning, really couldnt believe it and im really upset :(

I think itr was the tetras, ive watched the tank since he's been in there and the platies dont go near him, the tetra's were nipping at him so i think they are guilty :( want to kill the tetras thou :( nasty fishies :(:(:(

Taking the tetras back to maidenhead aquatics, perhaps looking for another betta, but will have a chat with the guy there as he knows his stuff and is very helpfull.

When i bought him he was in a tank on his own, with no other fish, just 2 plants. He was the only one in a tank on his own as all the other ones were in tanks full of platies. I bought him because he had different colouring to all the rest, could this have anything to do with it?

we have a new betta now and got rid of the tetra's as they started biting the platies tails too :grr:
