At an aquatics shop yesterday i found these sera CO2 start systems. They're a quite small plastic box that fits inside the tank and uses sera CO2 tablets to create the CO2. Heres a pic:

They're quite cheap at around £15 and come with the CO2 tablets. I was just wondering if these are any good?

They seem like a great idea and wouldn't look too bad in the tank either as they are pretty small. I just thought it'd be a convenient way to get a bit of CO2 diffusion into my tank.

Sam usually shoots the sera kit down in flames, but seeing as he is moving house at the moment I`ll do it for him. The tablets will cost a fortune in the long run and you will not get any kind of stability with CO2 levels.

Take a look at the pinned DIY CO2 topic on this forum for another approach. You could also introduce Carbon for your plants by dosing Flourish Excel.

If it's a very small tank, eg the PFK cube, it will work OK.
However, by the time you add up postage (hardly anywhere around my neck of the woods sell the tablets), etc you'd be better off with a Nutrafin kit with the pinned recipe on this forum.

Excel works very well with daily dosing, but on large tanks it works out very expensive ( £12 odd a bottle, plus postage etc)

Once you get to 250l or thereabouts, it's multiple Nutrafins or pressurised.
