I recently lost my male blue acara to septicemia, I wasnt sure what was the matter with him when I put him in the hospital tank as I thought the red mark was a wound. My male krib got bitten quite badly by the female acara (he was bothering her after I removed the male acara) and I put him (stupidly now I know) in the hospital tank with the acara. Dispite doing daily water changes and adding esha200 for the wound on Kevin the Krib, I found him dead this morning with the same red streaking that was on the acara. I am now worried about the inhabitants of the tank they came from, its my rio 300 I had problems with a few months ago when the brace bar broke. The 300 has angels, corys and pictus cats in. I did a large water change last night and planning on doing daily smaller water changes with gravel cleaning daily. I just dont know what else to do, the fish look ok. I am panicing a bit I dont want to loose the whole tank. Thanks in advance for any help.

Would a complete tank strip down help?

For now, I would just keep a close eye on the tank, as you say some extra water changes will be a preventative measure. The acara may well have trf what he had to the krib, as the krib had an open wound it would be much easier for him to pick up the infection, hopefully the other fish wont have got it. I wouldnt go to the extreme of a strip down as the stress would lower their immune systems, making it more likely for them to pick up the infection.

If a fish has septicemia it can pass onto other fish if the bacteria from the fish enters the tank water.
It's usally best to isolate fish with septicemia.

A good gravel vac and water changes.
With another fish also gone down to septicemia, I would add esha 2000 to the mine tank.
