Selling Oscars?

i have them in my largest tank at the minute but i keep looking at it and thinking i could have a really nice community set up in there how much would you have thought a near fully grown albino and a fully grown Red would sell for?

About £10-£15 each because you got to remember that not many people have big tanks for them. I sold 5 huge 10" oscars, 1 8" severum, 1 4" convict 1 5" juwel and 3 plecs 14" all for £45, I got quite a few offers but thought I'd sell them cheap as I needed to get rid of them straight away, they came with the the 4ft tank which I bought for £70. They were way to big for a 4ft and sold to someone 2 days later who had a 8ft tank for them. The guy was telling me that he lately bought a 14" arrowana for £1,500 :crazy:

I would go to marine for that much lol.

Its very difficult to sell oscars mate,esp when bigger,half then fun people enjoy is to raise them from young,as said not many people have big tanks then when they do they think like you, as you remember i got the pair for free,i would have yours if you dint live so far away, but on another note there are people who would buy them and pay good money,i would advertise them on gumtree and aqauriast classifieds, it cant hurt as its free, put them up for something like 20 pounds each or the two for 35 pounds..see what they get...my local fish shop sells full grown oscars for 30pounds each,always sells them :good:

dont want to put you down but an lfs near me has 2 large oscars for sale that are apparently a breeding pair for £30 the pair....

not tempted to stick some discus in the tank are you....? :lol:

nah i think i would rather have a larger community tank matt i have one as you know and ive set up a breeding tank i just want what i have in the tank i got from you but larger scale shame the oscars go for sod all that would go to the fund really

oscars are really hit and miss when big due to the tank size needed especiallt for 2. gorgeous fish but demand too much space and many people cant keep them properly when adults. so prices are quite low im affraid unless you find the right buyer who wants large oscars and has lots of room and filtration....

the 2 i saw for £30 were ones that had got too big and exchanged at lfs for other fish, they were also advertised as a breeding pair which normally adds value to many fish, but then again it could have been a selling ploy :unsure:
