okwhat plants can i get that dont need much light cause i just have a normal 10 gallon hood with normal smaller lights but they sure seem to saise the tank temp wen they r on what do u guys think i sould get and how do I make sand safe for my tank and what kind to buy im confused thatnk

You could have a look at gf225s pinned topic on lighting at the top of this section of the forum, the lighting will really determine what plants you can grow sucessfully.

Good starter plants that will grow in low light are java moss, java fern and anubis nana, they can all be attached to rocks or wood with fishing line and don't need to be planted in the substrate.

It is cheaper to get play sand (the kind used for kids sandpits) than to buy it from the LFS. Place it in a bucket and wash it until the water runs clean before adding it to the tank or it will go cloudy.
