Hi
i am interested in buying a seio m1500 pump for our 450 litre tank. i have heard that they can have reliability problems, especially when just outside their 1 year warranty period!
has anybody any comments , either way, on this?
many thanks

I haven't heard anything on the reliability of these, but have heard they are a completely different pump so are not likely to nuke the tank like Rio's other powerheads.

I have actually heard almost nothing but praise for the Seio. The only way you can buy a better pump is to spend a lot more on a Tunze which will last forever, do about twice as much LPH per watt and can be have teh output varied by a controller.

Only real negative I have read is the size of the larger pumps.

IMO they are ace.
cheap to run and pump out a lot of water
the draw back for me is that they are a big black box which can be a bit of an eye sore

Agreed, Seio makes a great product. They had reliability problems around the turn of the century when they used an old type of rio powerhead that was prone to electrical failure. That's all been fixed in the past few years and there's nothing but praise for them out there. Lots of flow, very reliable, low power consumption.

The Shaft of the Seio is made of Ceramic, which can Jam is it have a lot of Calcium Buildup (ie Kalk Dipping) on it - & when you come to clean the calcium off the shaft they have been known to break

Saying that I use Seios on my Tank with no probs

I have three of the MP620's and had a little problem with one clicking when you turn if on but apart from that there ggggggggreat :good:

callum_parsons> You can take the front off to expose the impeler housing witch makes them a bit smaller

it looks a bit dodgy exposing the big impellar.

If you don't mind a small wait then the Nano streams look very good.

Will cost a bit on initial outlay, but 8W for 4,500 LPH on the 6045 is pretty good movement. And they are tiny.

Below is an actual size photo from here:

And all the nanos come with a magnet for easy placement and are all controllable by the Tunze controllers.

I recall AMS has ordered some and I may well do so over the festive period.
