Hi, i read that an uncycled tank can be given a boost by introducing media from an established tank. I managed to get some gravel, i was then told that it was only useful if the gravel came from an UG filtered tank. If this is the case, is what ive got useless then?? I thought good bacteria clung to the filter, gravel ornaments etc.

Currently 5 days into my first cycle. with Fish!! Looking for helpful tips to get everyone through it!!

the gravel will provide some bacteria. im not sure what amount or if it will make a difference though.

i seeded a tank with gravel and another tank's water it was cycled within a week. but i might of been lucky / bad test kits

i think there is a debate to be had here....as most say there isnt any difference..but it was only when i started fiddling with my substrate in T2 that it all went haywire....i think there is some truth in substrate and decor you know
