I've just got a new filter for mil tank and was thinking of ways to seed the bacteria so we could transfer over the 10" common plec asap... it has bacteria in the grael, i know that for sure as i tested the water so i doubt it will take too long anyway... but does this sound like a decent idea that would benefit the new filter?:

(both filters are the same containing sponges filled with carbon and ceramic 'noodles' in a seperate compartment) i was thinking of swapping over the plug bit of sponge that stops the carbon falling out which is around 3cm wide and 4cm tall cylinder shape, also was going to swap 5 or so of our bacteria ridden noodles for the new ones in the new filter... dpoes this sound like it will help?

also its about 15-20mins away - whats the best way of transporting the media to make sure the bacteria dont die?

oh and finally does anyone have any bright ideas on how to catch the monster pleco? hes bloomin fast and heavy!!

Gravel is not likely to help transfer much bacteria...it's the filter media that really counts. So any media that you can take from the old filter to the brand new one should be a big help. I would test the water as you move forward to see if water changes are needed.

As long as you put the media in a bag to keep it wet/damp, it will be fine for hours.

I'd swap a quarter of your mediaBacteria will on average loose half of their population (in warm-ish damp conditions) in 24 hours, so you will be fine :')Catching the pleco... Well... Use a pond net? Pleco's can sometimes get stuck to ordinary nets because of the bristles on their skin
