Ok so i have these 4 tanks. and fish in each that perhaps dont go together but really dont go anywhere else. -_- all four are fresh water tanks. the 20g is as of now a hospital tank for a sick oscar from what i dont know but separated none the less :( .so that tank is not usable now so if some one could look @ sig and make some sugestions as to keeping all the fish i have in there native environments with the tanks i have i would be much apreciative. :D Im sure your all gonna say dont buy the fish if you dont know info on them? And that is very good advice but in my case my heart is a little bigger than my brain.you see most of these fish were going to be tossed over a fence if i did not take them off of the man that moved out of the house my friend moved in to. One more fish not listed in the sig-violet goby in 10g with jags

Hi qjim206 :)

I'm going to move your thread into the cichlid section so that you can get the help you need from members who specialize in them.

You might want to post in the Catfish section for information about your plecos too. :D

ok, where to start...first you're going to have to either get rid of some fish or buy a couple 75 gallon tanks. jags and oscars can reach 14-16" and really need to be in at least 75 gallons each though with jags I'd put them in a 125 minimum. the pacu needs to go. these guys reach 2 feet long or more and are schooling fish. they shouldn't be sold at all, imo. mono's I believe do best in brackish water and don't really go with the rest of your fish. what kind of africans do you have? oh, the violet goby also is a brackish fish I believe.

If I were you I'd start looking around for good lfs that will make some trades with you. you could probably keep the oscar and one of the plecs in the 72 bowfront and one of the red devils in the 55 alone. the blue lobster may be able to go in one of these tanks just beware because oscars and red devils both eat crayfish so they may go after the blue lobster. so, aside from 1 oscar, 1 red devil, 1 or 2 of the plecos (red devil may or may not allow a pleco in his/her tank) and possibly the lobster the rest of the fish really need to go unless you can buy a couple more large tanks very soon. :)

I agree. You should call some of the LFS/LPS around you and ask if they will make some trades. If not, I suggest maybe trying to sell/swap them on this forum in the buy, sell, and swap section. If that doesn't work, I'd just donate them to a LFS. Then someone can buy them and give them a good home.

I'd say definately keep the oscar though. He can go in the 72 gallon.

I don't know if this will help but I am into Freecycling. They are groups across America where things are offered and given away free to avoid things from going to a landfill. I see aquarium's on there all the time. In fact, I just gave up one for someone who needed it for her small cichlids. You will need to see if one is near you but you might be able to get some bigger tanks. Worth a try. By the way, you will have to offer first before receiving. It can be anything that you have laying around that you would never use. I give away tons of kid clothes, toys, furniture, etc. The link is www.freecycle.org. HTH And if you have questions, please let me know! It is a great site and tons of stuff isn't thrown away and goes to people who really need it!
