Getting a new nano today to eventually transfer my fry and endliers into.

Got a spare filter running in my main tank maturing

Sand vs gravel as a substrate!

Any opinions? X

thanks will do that. I currently have 2 filters running i the tank as it's overstocked so i have plenty of mature media :) any opinion on substrate?

Round here sand seems to have quite a following with a lot of threads in the last few months about changing from gravel etc. Make sure you wash it a lot before putting it in :)

It's up to you, there's no significant advantage or disadvantage to either.

Im sure a sand v gravel thread needs to be pinned

Sand for me, also stays cleaner, and doesnt gather as much debris

Sand is winning me over. It's easier to clean and my cories love it. It's also easier to plant.

popped to get my tank. very happy with it! they said saind is good but to get a couple of corys to help clean it. got an aquaone maxi 101f with my tank kit bu sellin as i'm gonna put my fluval in it instead!

Sand looks better and as some one said alot easier to plant plants.

Also sand is alot cleaner. The amount of crap I pick up from doing a gravel vac is horrendous after a week.

Where as sand most of it is drawn into the filter, so a quick rinse soon clears it

thanks for the advice guys, I've always used gravel and yea I agree you hoover up a looooooood of crap when cleaning! my room is gonna be a deep red and black colour so i'm thinking of a setup i saw in my local garden centre. red sand with a mask ornament from "the mask" jim carey movie and maybe a couple of plants x
