Okay I'm STILL trying to figure out what type of clowns to get for my tank... 37g, reef, and I'm deciding between clarkii or sebae. NO I'm not going to get percula or occelaris or black and white perc/occ. Everybody has them. I don't want them. I want something different. So... apart from appearance, what are the main differences in those two clowns. There's not much info on sebae clowns. I know they're rarer, but my lfs gets them regularly. They sell them seperate from clarkiis. So I'm pretty sure they're actually sebae clowns.

i think there the same ....

sebae are definatly known as clark clowns in some places, so wether clark and clarkii are the same thing im not sure. i got told sebae are a type of clarki from a different region.

in the shop i work a few people call the clowns we have sebae and others call them clarkii.

asside from thier appearance there is not to much difference from the two. except the clarkii is a hardier fish than the sebea. both are semi-aggressive and need 30 gallons. when it comes down to it you will have to pick which look you like the best.

they are deffinitely not the same thing, sebea are a little less hardy than clarkii asside form that i dont think theres any major differences in temperment, i like the look of clarkii tho

but i cuda sworn in one of the few books ive read, sebae are a type of clark clown just from a different region! may go research into this a bit more before i look like a fool :p

A lot of places confuse the two, and say that their sebaes when they're really clarkiis to try to get more sales... They are two different species.

I like sebaes better but if they're less hardy maybe I'll wait to add them.

EDIT: I read sebaes are rarer because they only host haddoni nems and they only come from ceratin oceans... I don't know if it's true or not, though.

EDIT 2: Is the plural 'sebae' or 'sebaes'?? @.@
