Hi, I wasn't sure where to put this so apologies if it's in the wrong place

I was wondering if anyone else had had dealings with seapets and if they'd had any problems? I placed an order for Seacham Paraguard and Prime on 11th Feb. The full price was over £20 and the money was taken from my account straight away. When the items hadn't arrived after 7 days I contacted them via email and asked if the order had been dispatched as I was concerned the parcel had gone astray.
They told me that the Paraguard was out of stock and my order would be dispatched within the next 3-4 days. The parcel still hadn't come this morning so I emailed them again asking for an update. They are now telling me that the items won't be back in stock until next week ....

I'm not happy that they knew an item was out of stock and so couldn't fill my order but they still debited my account. I've now requested that they cancel my order and refund me in full.

I'm not bashing them but I can't help but wonder if this is a one off or if anyone else has had similar problems. I'm purely asking for future reference not to cause any trouble. I want to know if this is a company to avoid in future

I have used them before.sometimes my order was split in 2 and arrived at diff times.apart from that they were ok.as far as I know its a small family run business.

this is what I don't understand gmc - they have the Prime in stock so why not just send me the Prime and refund the Paraguard. It's the fact that they've taken payment before dispatch, knowing part of my order was out of stock, that is naughty. I order a lot of stuff online and I've never been charged before dispatch with any of them.
It is heartening to read that this appears to be a one off though. We just never know these days with the online companies who's good and who isn't.

I'm still trying to get my refund from this company a month from requesting it. I've now had to get my bank involved.

Please take this as a warning on buying from this company.

There is a review section on the forum, post a review in there if you feel wrong done by. I would always try a quick email first though, maybe someone is off sick or other staffing issues. I know it is no excuse but I always try to find a resolve, which I am sure you may have already done?

I sent them an email last night giving them until the end of today to refund my money. I got an email back this morning apologising yet again and telling me they would sort it out but I've still not got my money back. I'll be instructing my bank to take action after the easter break.

I'm really sad that it has come to this. And I'm really sad to be giving bad reviews but I'd hate to read someone else got into the same troubles as I have when I could have warned them

Did you get your money refunded Akasha? Ridiculous that they've strung you along like this. I've been considering using them before, so I'd be interested in hearing how this turns out.

no, still no refund just an apology and a promise to sort it out which I have no faith in. I posted out the paperwork that my bank had requested on Friday so that should have got there today at the latest. It certainly looks like the only way I'm going to get my money back is to claim on my card protection.

It's not my decision Hathaway but I would advise you to use another company. I wouldn't recommend seapets to anyone now

I have used them before a couple of times.  The first time I was emailed saying the item I needed was out of stock and would be fulfilled in the next couple of weeks, which it was.  I don't know how or when I was charged as I only ever use credit card.

The next time my order came straight away.

I'm sorry you've had a bad experience with them and despite having used them before this has now made me wary of using them again.  You may also want to consider trading standards.

I hadn't thought of trading standards Far_king, that's not actually a bad idea. I really wouldn't want this to happen to anyone else. It may only be for £20 but that's a lot of money to me and to many others too.

One thing that has gone through my mind is that the company is in trouble and on the brink of going bust. It might explain why other members have had good experiences in the past and this has happened to me

Have you tried phoning them and seeing if you can speak to someone directly?

It may just be that they have so many requests they're unable to handle them all or it may have been lost in the pile.  It does happen.

0871 250 4777 is the number on their website.

no, I've not tried calling as the bank have told me to keep a paper trail with them and email gives me that paper trail that the bank need. The bank need to see proof that I cancelled the order, they accepted the cancellation and the timescale they gave for refund. They also need to see that I've tried to get my money back and I've been able to provide that info now and so it's now in the hands of my bank. I'm worried about contacting them again now that the bank have taken it on

That's fair enough, and a paper trail is always the best way to go.
