I'm thinking of setting up a saltwater tank so I can keep some seahorses i've always loved them and now my pet shop has started getting them in so would love to set up a new tank.

Now I don't really know anything about the saltwater side of things so what would be needed for a seahorse setup?

What minimum size tank should they be kept in and how many of them should be kept together?

What type of other fish can be kept with seahorses?

How hard are they to care for compared to other fish?

If someone could share that info with me it would be great thanks.

They are very hard, but not impossible. As long as you put in the long hours of research, you should be ok. The bigger the tank the better: id say about 30 galls as a minimum as you are new to keeping SW. i am currently planning a project like this too! :)

Agreed, they are a difficult fish to care for and I know of a few people who have begun keeping sea horses with no knowledge, only to make fatal mistakes and give up.

I would suggest you do a fair bit of reading and begin with no less than a 30 gallon tank. And as for fish, begin with a pair of clownfish untill you get experience, then once you feel youre confident and ready, get some horses. :)

I plan on setting up a seahorse tank soon.
