I decided to give this a try and the package came today.

I thought that this was supposed to be white when it was new. I opened it and it is not white. It is an off white beige color and it was damp. Is this normal? I just expected it to be white and dry.

Off white is fine, Wet is not.

Yes, that's normal - the resin holds up better if always kept moist. It may appear off white or beige so rinse well and go ahead and use it. Use until it becomes very brown.
Following your first regeneration (50/50 chlorine bleach/water) it will become very white. (Be sure to use Prime to de-chlorinate after regeneration).

Thanks! I don't know why it was wet. But it was when I opened it.

Why do you have to use Prime? I have always used AquaSafe to remove chlorine when I change the water. I can use Prime to regenerate, not a problem, I just wonder why it has to be Prime.

I suppose this can be used in nylon stocking cut for bag? This stuff is so tiny

I just prefer Prime. I've always used the 100ml pouches, If you bought a jar, you'll need a stocking or nylon bag to hold it.
