Fair bit of driving though-2380 miles in 7 days-and i had a rest day aswell!!

Gorgeous pics! If I ever get a chance I would love to go to Scotland.

Yeah its a great place- Theres hardly anyone there once you get further North (thanks to the English and the clearances in the 1800's). I recommend going eith May time or September. The weather is better and you dont get the midges around you like in the summer.

If you consider strathnaver with lots of little crofts, small families with little parches of land being turfed off for sheep, look at the situation now. The North coast area (Sutherland) is barren with only the odd house still occupated. Admittedly the land isnt prime being of poor quality on the West side and boggy and peaty on the far North East but there would still be more residents there had we not turfed them to the coast.

Love the pics -thanks for sharing- now need to persuade other half to forgo a sun holiday.....

We generally have great weather when we go. In some respects the Highlands are similar to the Lake District with little microcosms of weather in areas. In can be gloriously sunny in one Glen and gloomy over the other side. I learnt not to take much notice of the weather on TV from London, while i was there as they dont have a clue half the time.!!

Look up names such as Patrick Sellar and James Loch regarding Strathnaver. The Highlanders were ousted by the landowners, and despised and feared by Scottish lowlanders. Your apportioning of the blame is way too simplistic.

As for the weather forecast, blame the local weather stations that feed information in to the national weather centre, not London.

Dave.

Now theres an attitude problem.

(And blame the ""local"" satellite images they use to watch air mass systems moving over the earth!!!)

You are right. Why let the hard truth get in the way of a good script for Hollywood?

I don`t mean or offence, nor wish to hijack your thread, but apportioning blame without thought is a strange attitude.

Some of the Lakes pics are quite nice. I was there recently, experiencing all four seasons in a ten minute period.

Dave.
