Alright im a little shamed to even think of this but yet curious to see if it would work...ok ill just lay it out.

I still have the 2.5g mettaframe tank. Would putting in one of the smaller in tank waterfall filters and cleverly making a water and a land portion be suitable for a single red claw crab or any other brackish crab? Just a singleton? I mean, this tank is pretty long for a 2.5g, not one of the tall 2.5g picos. And water changes would be simple and frequent.

Ill probably draw it out tomorrow....but just wanted to get anyone's opinion on the matter.
Ill try and explain it right now-

the filter in the back left corner. Take some plastic crate and grout to make water fountain leading into the water portion. Above the water portion create a sort of ledge pool to put sand in and a hiding place (though there will be other spots underneath this will be the land portion to hide) basically layering it with water underneath, a way to get up and onto the land ledge too... like I said a picture will be coming to better represent. Oh and a heater will be placed on the back with a gaurd or hidden spot that will also work with the layout

This set up sounds fine for a crab, but red crabs are social, so you should keep two. Also don't forget the brackish water for them.

Would you say 1 male 1 female or just 2 females?
Either ratio will work just fine. the only thing you don't want is two males, but the other ratios work fine.

Cool beans! Any specific species you'd recommend? Ive seen quite a few types of fiddle crabs at my lfs whether it be red claws, or this more so mottled brown crab...
