I always recommend rummynose or firehead tetras if you're looking for fish that will stay together in a tight school. They are fairly active, good community fish, and school as tightly as any tetra I've kept.
I agree with any of those sold under the name of Rummy-nose also X-ray tetra are another gooden. I have of six of each in one of my tanks & they all school together.

My Platy will follow each other in groups but not really school as in how the term refers.
My Danios definetly do school and so do my Green Neons (I think thats the right name, slight green stripe).
If the dominent Danio has crossed my water bridge and into the other tank, then the remaining Dnaios and neons school together, if he comes back then the neons stay ain a corner and sit as a group while the danios follow one another.
Its really interesting with two bridges tanks to see the behaviour patterns change in the fish as fish move from one tank to the other as what fish and how many in each tank is always changing.
I also had a baby Platy about 15mm long cross the bridge into the large tank. He hides with my Pleco.
