Today I discovered a large mark on one of my tiger barbs. I'm connecting it to my small BN Pleco, whom I've decided to rehome. Curious if Kuhli Loaches would be an adequate replacement as a bottom feeder/scavanger. Only other scavangers I have are 6 Green Corys. Tank size is 55usG, temp at 80. Just want something that wont harm my other fish, and look cool in the process. I'd have chosen Clown Loaches if it wasn't for their size. Otherwise, open to any suggestions to any scavanger that would do well in my tank. Other fish I have are 4 German Blue Rams, 8 Bloodfin Tetras, 3 Pearl Gouramis and 10 Tiger Barbs. Also curious, if Kuhli Loaches are a good choice, how many would be suitable? Thanks in advance!

I've never heard of a BN attacking a tiger barb.

Most small plecos (other than commons) will attatch to the sides of fat-bodied fish assuming they're large enough and suck the slime off. If they continue to suck on the same spot, it wears through the scales and into the flesh. It's a pretty small BN pleco, only about 2" long. But, I'd rather not take my chances losing one of my barbs. Would 2-4 Kuhli Loaches be a viable option as a scavanger paired with my corys?

Khuli loaches should be fine with cories... they both prefer very fine substrate (sand, if possible).  Loaches, like cories, prefer to be in groups of 6+ though, as I understand it.  Not sure how that would affect you stocking wise...

Plecos have alot of waste, if they're rehoming their BNP they can easily fit 6 kuhlis worth of bioload in their tank.  They're small, long, and thin they dont attribute much
