I wasn't calling anyone stupid, I meant the act was stupid. Even the smartest people do dumb things. Anyhow, yes it is worse to buy them, especially when you're drunk and go off on the guy about how it's bad to give them away so you buy them.

I don't think I have to defend myself when I say someone did something stupid. Should I be politically correct and all nice about it or just be open and honest and say it wasn't particularly wise of his wife to give money to a cause that's bad. It's no better than knowingly buying dyed fish.

then my zebra tank will actually become what it was bought for
(its the 30gal office tank)

If you can share some Zebras with me, that'd be great too. :D I'd like to breed them as well and make some money to start paying for all this fish stuff.

Yes the act was stupid and I would be the first to admit it ..HOWEVER.. even sober my partner would have done exactly the same thing.

Firstly my partner saw those fish as living creatures that were destined for a life of who knows what. I do see your point that buying them only makes the fair man think he is making a good profit but my partner didn't see it this way and no matter what I support her in any actions she takes. I do think that the act of selling these fish at fairs should be stopped so why don't WE turn this "stupid act" into a action and start to come up with ideas to stop it?

Secondly my partner has the right to speak her mind and if that includes telling this man at the fair what he is doing is cruel then so be it!

I don't have any suggestions as that sort of thing is now illegal in the UK. Fish and other animals are no longer to be given away as prizes. I don't know where the url is but someone's bound to have it. I don't know when it goes into effect but that's the end of fish as prizes in the UK.

Reminds me of when I saw these two teenage girls and it looked like they had been carrying the fish around all day, there was NO air in the bag and then while standing in line for the same ride I see them get on the ride with the fish!!! This was a few years ago when I wasn't brave enough to say something but I think if I went to a fair tomorrow and saw that I would grab the fish and run.

bravo!!! it takes a very good man to speak openly that way about his partner. she is one lucky lady to have someone who cares for her that much. and stupid or not, bravo to her as well for her actions.

It's too easy to misinterpet posts. Once more, I didn't mean she was stupid... I meant she comitted a stupid act. One act does not define a person's intelligence.
