My husband just found around 20 baby shrimp inside the filter intake and filter when cleaning our 75-gallon tank's canister filter. He was able to save over half of them once he realized they were there. So I started reading here, and found pantyhose recommended several times for covering the filter intake basket. He's going off to buy pantyhose after lunch, LOL!

Our question is, how do you prevent the pantyhose from becoming clogged very quickly? or do you simply clean it daily?

I couldn't find an intake sponge that fit my canister filter, and found pantyhose clogged rapidly and needed degunking every few days, so I cut the net part off of a fine fish net that was small enough for shrimplets and used that. Still needs cleaning now and then, but much less often, and no shrimplets in the canister :)
