I have just recently ended my cycle. It was a long process but worth it in the end. Originally i had gravel in my tank but i have a few bottom feeders and 3 dwarph frogs so decided to change to sand. I bought the sand from local aquarium store. Rinsed it thoroughly and also took the fish out whilst i did the change. Its been 36 hours now and although the tank is clearing i am still getting a lot of flying bits around. I have a air stone running in the back to break the surface water. Can anyone tell me will the sand settle or will it always be like that. The fish love the new look by the way

Back in the day when I had sand in a community set up I had similar problems. Despite a hell of a lot of rinsing the water went a hazy sort of cloudiness. Yes it will clear.......eventually. It may take several days or even weeks depending on the amount of contamination and filtration. Adding some floss to the filter will help but remember to replace it regularly.

It will be worth it as sand in a crystal clear tank with Cory looks magic :good:
