Hey peeps.

So removed UGF ( What allot of poop i found there ) and replaced fravel with sand ( Added ferts on bottom of tank. )

Now very silly question. The poop that goes and lie on the sand?Does it rot and go away or how does it work? I Have 700 liters filtering running at min to counter the water movement so its about 350 liter filterig per hour.

I have 60 liter tank.

:D

It will stay there until you vac it up with a gravel vac, or some syphon hose. I found my gravel vac didn't pick it up as the tube was too wide, so I bought some hosing and it works a treat. Just kinda move it across the top of the sand while you're doing your water changes. You should also stir up the sand when you're done to reduce the chance of pockets of toxic gases forming in your sand, which are harmful to fish. Hope this helps!

Thx very much.Ive noticed bubble comming out of the sand but i guess that is just the air still comming out after i replaced the gravel with sand.I will keep eye in this.I just want the ferts i put under the sand for the plants to settle and spread before i stir the sand...its in the instructions..hehehe...Also with a heavy planted tank its difficult to use a gravel vac and not unroot them.

Can plants root themself very good in sand?

I have live plants in sand, and one in particular (wouldn't know the name, sorry!) has put down some very good roots, and feels very secure. The others are not so strong, but are still growing well so I would guess that they are pretty happy growing in sand, despite my weather loach, Whiskers, persisting in digging around their roots!

I would think so, although I don't have a planted tank, so someone else would be best to advise you on that. As for vaccing, i suppose all you can do is try to vac carefully in between the plants!

Our lives would be so much easier if fish could have a colostomy.

you will occasionaly knock a plant or up root it but if your carefull its not a problem and plants root very well in sand its what they prefer to grow in, when i recently moved my tank into my girlfriends i found my amazon swords roots were almost half a foot long!
