Okay, so I have always had gravel, but I was thinking of switching to sand?

The fish I have in my community tank are
.Firemouth cichlid
.Pleco
.zebra danios
.platies
.penguin tetra
and planning on getting more fish like corydoras

I want to know:

.Is vivarium sand and aquarium sand the same?
.Is it okay for the fish I have?
.Is it better for plants?
.Is it hard to keep clean?
.Could I use play sand?

And any other things you can tell me about sand in an aquarium...

Thanks in advance guys!! :thanks:

Sand is great. It's far better for planting in and great for fish like Cories.

Just a quick question... please tell me you're planning an upgrade on the 67 litre tank that the firemouths are crammed into?!

I have upgraded a few months ago, I need to change my sig! :good:

up till now i didnt even know you could put sand in fish tanks...hence getting gravel :grr: But i have to admit it does actually look nicer with sand :/
