in a week or 2 i'm planning on getting some sand dwelling sichlids so i went to get everything i needed (so much fun i must add, i was in heaven lol) and i found some sand that is substrate for a reptile cage. the stuff is BONE AID Calci-Sand "pure natural calcium carbonate substrate.it is 100% digestable so i dunno if this calcium stuff will mess up the chemical balance in the water or if it will just dissolve. anyway if you can tell me if this will work that would be great!

not sure about the calcium thing but argos playsand (cheap as chips[always wanted to say that :D]) works great

sand dwelling cichlids. I'm assuming africans. I looked into setting up a shelly tank (actually I set one up but I can't find any shellies around here been lookin for months) and they need a high PH. might want to look into a crushed aragonite substrate. It's a bit expensive (not much worse than gravel) but it maintains the PH at around 7.8. great stuff looks good too.
