i want to start planting my 29 gallon brackish tank but i dont want the laterite to come above the sand like it so oftern does in my planted 10 gal brackish tank :grr: is there any way to stop this? or does this happen to you?

I assume like in my tank, the laterite comes up when you vacuum the sand. I get a bit up then, or when I pull plants up. I don't let it but me... i just push the bits back under if I can. Some people put a layer of mesh between the sand and laterite, then poke holes when they plant. I haven't done this, so I dont know how effective it is.

I mixed an inch of 2-3mm smooth natural gravel with the Laterite granules - with an inch of just the gravel over the top - then with an inch of sand over that. Minimal Laterite leakage and a great real plant substrate...
