Does anyone know anything about Salvinia Minima or have it?

I curently have enough that takes up about half the surface of a 60ltr but it's starting to annoy me in my 125ltr. Obv with the filter flow, it won't stay in 1 place on the surface but i'm wondering if there is any nutritional value it has in a tank.

If it is a 'looking pretty' plant and nothing else, i will remove it but if it does the tank good, it will stay put.

thanks x

I have worked with Salvinia minima in the past. I used to like having it in the tanks, especially with my bettas. What I used to do is cut up clear plastic cups and keep the salvinia contained in "rings".

Because it is in contact with the surface, it consumes more CO2 and more nutrients. It is an ammonia, nitrite, nitrate sponge. It is a good plant for shading and its roots harbor microrganisms for fry and hiding places. It can also serve as anchor points for surface-bubble nest builders. Those are its benefits, besides it being rather pretty, IMO. Prettier than duckweed.

EDIT: Believe it or not, it is an aquatic fern. Grows via rhizome.
