Hello,
I was wondering if you guys could give me a list of salt tolerant plants. I plan to use a little of salt for my goldfish tank and I do not want my plants to die on me. I know Java fern would be one of my choices, what do you guys think?

The following species can be kept successfully in brackish conditions (providing you supply the correct lighting, water and nutrients).

Crinum calamistratum

Crinum natans

Crinum thaianum

Cryptocoryne pontederiifolia

Cryptocoryne wendtii 'Mi Oya'

Glossostigma elatinoides

Lilaeopsis brasiliensis

Lilaeopsis novae-zelandiae

Microsorum pteropus ''Narrow''

Microsorum pteropus ''Undulata''

Microsorum pteropus ''Philippine''

Microsorum pteropus ''Red''

Nymphaea lotus (zenkeri)

Samolus valerandi

Shinnersia rivularis

Spathiphyllum wallisii

Wow thanks a lot!

I have a question...are these plants good for cold water? I plan on a goldfish pond at some point and want to put some plants in there.

I also have a question, why do you want to put salt in a goldfish tank? They are freshwater fish, salt is a pollutant for them.

Iron Man:

A lot depends on the climate. Do you know what "USDA zone you are in?". It tells us what kind of temperature range to expect. Coldwater is a somewhat imprecise term. An unheated pond in Dubai is not going to be covered with ice for months at a time like mine are for example!
