I'm new to brackish tanks and I have a question. I've got marina salt and a hydrometer. Now here is my question when I do a water change and need to add some more salt not sure how to do that. I know not to add the salt directly to the tank. Here is how I tried to do it I siphoned 20% of the water out, refilled it with new water, added the safe tap chemical, then got a glass added some salt stired it up real well once all the salt was disolved then added it to the tank . l Tested the tank with the hydrometer and seen were the salt weight was then kept adding salt and testing until I got it right. I evently did get it right. I'm going for 1.005. Now I tried getting a bowl adding water to that and salt stired it up and tried to test it there but the hydrometer was saying 1.010. So here is what I'm thinking the reason it is saying 1.010 is because the amount of water to salt in the bowl. I did it the way I mentioned above and got 1.005. But isn't there a easier way to do it other then adding a little at a time until I get it. I guess the only way I can do it out of the tank and get the right reading for the tank is if I've got the same amount of water as I do in the tank, but that would defeat the purpose. Any advise will be appricated.
