So I think i need to put some salt in for my tire track eel, but hes with a BGK which is sensitive to salt, so any ideas on what i can do?

I'd think the eel would also not appreciate the salt? Why are you wanting to add it?

Nevermind. Seems they like a little salt. Did the tank you got it from contain salt?

Well got him about a month ago he was in a 5 or 10 gallon dont know but also dont know if there was any salt in it, do they need salt or are they ok without it, or are BGK ok with a little salt?

Hrm okie. No you do not want to put salt in with your BGK.

I had actually not heard of adding salt to a tank with TT eels before is why I was confused at first.
So I'd think they are fine without it but I could easily be wrong as havn't done extensive research on them or had them myself.

Sorry I'm of pretty much no help :(

Its ok I just cant seem to find the info on what salt does for the eels.

i have always added salt 1 heaping tablespoon per 5 gallons of water and my BGK is not bothered in the least. Each fish is different but the salt has no effect at all. i bought my BGK about 4 years ago and he is thriving. I just bought a tire track 2 days ago and he made his home next to my BGK in the sand!!!!. I dont know if the salt is more of a general tonic for the eel as it is with other fish. i would like to assume because tha'ts all i can go with for the time.

Interesting. Imagine I'm wrong then. Sorry Saw! :)

all good ninj i added about 8-9 teaspoons today, and got another tire track eel :p dont berate me when they get larger they will move to my larger tank when i get it! also want a fire eel :) Im so bad ;)
