Hi,

Not sure about the plants as i would never add salt to my tanks, if you still have the snails in there get them out asap or they will definately die. Never add salt to tanks containing corys, loaches, shrimps, snails or frogs.

Your plants should be fine, as plants are generally hardy to water conditions. What plants do you have?

You have salted to a tonic level which is .1% and is fine for everything in your tank. If you add any more then you will start to get problems.

i no im gonna throw a spanner into the works but i think that salt will kill your plants. this is coming from exsperience when my clown loach developed white spot i added salt at the same ratio as you and my plants died. best thing to do is add treatment and put temperature up a few degrees to speed it up. james B)

Hi,was worried about the same thing, ive added tonic salt to help with my meds in my 50 gallon tank which is very heavily planted and contains corys, but ive never had any plant probs and my corys are also fine,i was confused because i kept getting mixed reactions to this question. Everything will be fine as long as you dont use it for long periods of time and do a few water changes over a few days so the salt level dissapears after your treatment of course, hope this helps

I had the salt in for a day then did a 70% water change. I'm glad I added the salt because he was just sitting at the bottom now he's swimming around at least with a white fungus thing on his lip. The snails lived but they were at the top of the tank all day oops.
I'd take a pic and post it but all the pics i've tried to take were blurry. But I have jave fern, jave moss, hornwort, and a bunch of other plants that were at pet smart with the low light on their sticker. The plants will be fine I think but some edges on the leaves are now a bit brown.
Ty for the replies.

snails are vermin anyway there sooooo easily replaced,i personally dont have any but my friend started off with a couple then they were taking over his tank lol, they were everywhere he tryed loads of different things to get rid of them, maybe salt would of done the trick
