I keep reading it is best to add some salt to an aquarium for mollies. If so, how much, what kind, and will it have an affect on the other fish?

I have a 55 gallon, heavily planted. most of the mollies were born in this tank. The other fish are neon tetras, 2 gouarami's.

Thanks

Scott

If the mollies look good then leave it like that, especially since they were born in there. The other fish wouldn't really mind the salt but won't need it either.

I would just leave everything the way it is

Add about a Tbsp per gallon. The salt should be free from anti- caking agents (these are cyanide based). So you can use a suitable salt from the supermarket or sea salt, special aquarium salt (eg. SUPA)

It usually is one tablespoon to 5 gal.
