Are salfin and dalmation mollies the same fish, i have a silver male salfin mollie, and a female dalmation mollie they seem to be ignoring each other at moment, will they breed?

Any molly with a sailfin is a sailfin molly. There are some differences from Mexican sailfins and just sailfins but that is not important. Now assuming you are sure they are male and female, mollies can easily interbreed with each other and I do believe all dalmatian mollies are sail fin molly hybrids. Give them time and another female, because she might be very stressed from him trying to mate with just her, add 2 more if you have room. I'm having trouble with my dalmatian and gold dust mollies not breeding but the most you can do is be hopeful!

A sailfin molly is one with a particular dorsal fin shape, not a particular color pattern. A dalmatian molly is one with a particular color pattern, not a particular dorsal fin shape. The two characteristics are completely unrelated. It is possible to have both in the same fish but not at all necessary. I have had many dalmatians over the years that had normal fins and I presently have a very nice pair of sailfins that are a plain silver color, not dalmatians. I like both kinds but do no insist on them being present in the same fish. If you have both in the same fish, they may well be gorgeous fish.
