Hi all, I am looking for a good home for my Plec, it is of the Sailfin Variety and very pretty! Its between 8 & 10 inches long. Its currently in a 4 foot tank but I am thinking of its future growth and well being. There is no immediate rush to re-home this fish, I really want it to go to someone with a 4ft+ sized aquarium and knowledge of the species.
Sorry I have no picture but the bashful fish wont pop out from under its log for a picture today. Hopefully a quick search on the interweb will show you what a sailfin pleco looks like

So, if you think can assist me in re-homing this cheeky fish, please let me know? Collection only from Bedford please.

Many thanks

this still avalible?

I live in bedford and can collect?

Hi, the fish is still available, as I said above, i am in no great rush to offload this fish. Its future welfare is important to me. I would be keen to know your own aquarium set up and knowledge of these fish please? Although this is by no means a huge fish, it does poo quite a lot and therefore good filtration is important for it and any other fish you have. It also requires plenty of vegetables in its diet, this plec loves courgettes, cucumber, marrow etc. it needs somewhere to hide away when it wants to as well and some wood it can sink its teeth into as this forms part of its diet. Hopefully you know all this stuff already?

Kind regards
John.

Hi john,

I have a rio 400, which is a 5ft tank, i have another plec which is a L001 around 6 inches at the moment, i am well aware of the potential size of these fish and hopefully looking to upgrade to somewhat in the region of an 8ft tank towards end of year.

As of the current setup it is a Juwel rio 400, 5 ft 450L. Aqua one 1250 external filter aswell as the inbuilt juwel filter that comes with all juwel tanks, if i need i can get another external filter within 24 hours. internally i have 2 large pieces of bog-wood, large rocks and ornaments, plenty of hiding places for him/her, 3mm gravel substrate, a few live plants and a tetra-tec air stone.

I already feed my plec a wide range of food, mostly as you have already described plus algae wafers and sometimes the odd blood worm.

If you are happy with me taking on your fish. Then please let me know as i can collect tonight if you are free.

Regards

Ben.

HI Ben. Thats all very good, you certainly know what you are taking on and have a better set up than i do so am reassured that Plec will be looked after. I will try and send you a PM after i have published this reply.

Plec now has a new home. Thanks Ben

I love reading those things. It's nice to know that you can pass on fish to members here and be sure that they will be looked after.

Hi john,

When we spoke earlier today about the 2 plec's maybe fighting at first, they seem to be quite inseparable, maybe due to the sheer size difference.

Heres a photo of them, water doesn't look its best as i cleaned out both filters and did my weekly water change, i took the pic soon after replacing the internal filter so no chance for water to settle.
