Safe Limescale Removal

I live in a very hard-water area, and the battle against limescale in kitchens/bathrooms etc is always on-going. Although I clean my tanks every week, I have a slow build up of limescale above the water line and on the underside of the sliding lids etc. Whilst I remove the lids for cleaning away from the tank every other week, the build up on the underside of the fixed glass panels at either end of the lids and on the sides above the water line is more difficult to deal with. Is there anything that can be safely used or is it just down to sheer elbow-grease and houdini-like contortions? I don't really want to stress them all out by retanking them elsewhere while I tackle it with the chemical solutions I use for the removable lids.

You could try a razor blade to scrape it, I don't know of any 100% safe for fish chemicals and don't think I'd risk it just to be on the safe side.

Single sided razorblade to remove it from the glass. Avoid the silicon.

Coverglass can be soaked in white vinegar overnight to remove it. Put some gladwrap (plastic lunch wrap) on top of the tank when you remove the covers to soak so the fish don't jump out.
