Today we lost our silver molly after 3weeks being in the tank. All water readings were
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 0
PH 7.6.

Leading up to today, I noticed that our dalmation molly was constantly chasing it. The DM flexed its fin on its back anytime it went near the silver one. The last 3-5 days the silver molly was lying low on the gravel. Anytime it tried to come to the top of the tank it was chased by the DM. The SM started looking very thin compare to the DM. My 2 mollies were male. Yesterday I noticed that the SM was missing the long fin that male fish have underneath. I am sure the DM has been nipping and harassing it into submission :(

Sorry to hear that. They can be surprisingly aggressive.

Indeed, they can be very aggressive towards others...  That's why a group of males is best, because it spreads the aggression around a bit.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your silver molly - it's not nice to lose one.
Most of the ones that we have lost have always been the characters of the tank.

Quick question and my apologies for taking your thread off topic: I notice that you say that your nitrates are zero. Was that a typographical error or did your test kit show that?
If it did show that, what test kit are you using?

I know the response after I tell you this.
Using api master kit, nitrate is 0. I shake and thump, shake, bang that bottle 2 for a minute.

Did you use the nitrate solution correctly? you add the required drops from bottle 1, shake it then added the required drops from bottle 2 and shake it again. when i first got the test kit i used to only use bottle 1 of the nitrate solution because i thought bottle 2 was a extra bottle

This is a concern bout my dalmation Mollie. Ever since my silver Mollie passed away my DM has been acting strangely.
It eats well and doesn't bother any other fish. However, it now frantically nibbles the side of the tank, decorations and gravel. It swims exceptionally quickly up and down, back and forth. It has never done this. It used to be a graceful swimmer.
Is there anything I need to be worried about?

I would think maybe the loss of its tankmate could have it out of sorts. Is he alone? You said your tank wasn't cycled. What are your readings today?

Mm stocking levels are in my SIG.
My readings last night are

Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 0
PH 7.6
Temp 27oC

Will his behaviour settle down? Or is this the start of it going downhill?

Just an update. My dalmation Mollie has now settled down. He is now swimming normally and only gets frantic when its feeding time. I'm really happy for him.
