Sa/ca 55g Stocking

I was wondering what kind of cichlids I could get in a 55g and what kind of bottom feeder could be with them?

2 firemouths, 1 convict, pleco of a sort. or you could do a single species of a severum or an oscar. maybe a few dwarfs like rams and apistos.

if you go the dwarf route you could have:
2 rams
2 Apistogramma agassizii
20-30 tetras
12 corydora cats
bristlenose pleco

or

2 angels
2 rams or other dwarf
8 medium sized schooling fish
10 cory cats
1 bristlenose pleco

5-6 red eye tetras
2 bolivian rams
1 rubberlip pleco

that could work, but then why dont you change the ram to an Apistogramma trifasiata or some other apisto, unless you really like bolivian rams

I dont know what kinds of Apistogramma trifasiata's you are talking about I not the best at scientific names but yes I do like bloivian rams but I would like to know some other smaller cichlids that could go with my list

there are all sorts of apistos:
Cacatuoides
panduro
trifasiata
borelli
viejita
baenschi AKA Inka
Macmasteri

all of those are apistos

EDIT: google them under apistogramma ........

Hi Williamc,

1 - 2 Severum, 8 - 10 Black Skirt Tetra and a couple of Bristlenose plecs would be nice in a tank that size.

I have 1 sev, 2 drarf acaras, 6 Black phantom tetras and a pim pictus in my 190L corner tank and all is sweet.

Make sure you provide plenty of refuge in the form of drifwood and / or stone caves, with some decent vegetation growing in there and you will have an awesome tank.

1 sev would be all you can fit, people think since sevs are mainly tall then they dont need much room, but they are very territorial and actually get pretty wide as well.

6 red eye tetras
1 firemouth cichlid

does that sound okay?
could I add 2 bolivian rams and 1 silverdollar also?

you could add the rams but I dont know about just a single sd specimen. if you got rid of the tigerbards, then you could do about 5 silver dollars since silver dollars are schooling fish
