I'm thinking of getting some for my tank and whilst I'm happy they'll fit in with the current inhabitants, I've read in a few places they're better kept in softer water with a lower ph. Mine is quite hard and around 7.6-7.8 (need to retest again soon) so just wondered if anyone out there has any experience of keeping them and what your views are.

The RUMMY Nose tetras are quite enjoyable. I have had a school of 6 of these.

soft water is more or less not required.

Soft water fish can be in a hard water tank but not vice versa.'

All in all they are a neat fish!

hehe.. sorry.. just made me giggle!!

To contribute to the point of this thread, rummy noses look great and have considered them myself.

They always shoal. They never separate from their shoal. They are what you can call cuddlers

I have hard water and the same pH as you and my rummy noses are doing fine :)

I have a shoal of 6 rummys and they are always together like inseparable together and they always like to do a loop around the front of the tank, very nice tetra to watch
