The particular fish that I had entered his auction picture, I had posted probably 6 pictures of him that I had taken. In a seperate thread, someone asked for a picture of a HM, his auction picture showed his tail nicely, so I posted it as an example. Thats when I got the nominations. I never claimed I had taken the picture. I specifically said this is his auction picture.

After the nominations I stated concern in entering an auction picture and I was assured by two mods and many members that I should enter the picture because it was my fish.

Sorry that it caused so much trouble. It's gone, chill out.

I would usually side with Chris and Sorrell hands down on anything....you guys no that! .............. buuuuuut

I also think only pictures taken by members themselves should be in comp.

I honestly don't really care though either way but if opinions are valued, that's mine. I've never really even thought about it until this thread so I REALLY don't care that much............. don't be mad kay guys!!

well I knew a lot of people would get upset , but the person that said a cheap camera and you can take all the pics you want. Get real my friend, they are cheap because they take crappy pics. I thought the point of the OTM was to vote for the particular animal. not the picture. if a picture captures it better then fine. I do have a question. I took some of my photos with my dads camera. He legally on the camera and therefore posseses the contents with in. His picture captured my properties likeness. So whos photo is it? My property or his? Because we are voting for the likeness. If someone wanted they could hire a photographer to come in and snap some pics. The pics now become the photographer. I think this has really gotten blown way out of proportion. If you dont like aquabid pics just dont vote for them. I personally thinking coming in and BEGGING for nominations is much worse because you are goading people to nominate you. BOTM nominations should be nominated freely with out asking and begging. If the fish is worthy it will get nominated. If not, then one can take another pic of it.

If the contest is for the fish then why not nominate the fish and then the member can choose to enter the picture they took that they feel best repreents their betta.

I just want to add one thing that I have discussed with Sorrell. I think it might be a good idea to have people nominate a certain fish for FOTM, or BOTM, and then let the owner decide the photo. I know this doesn't have much to do with the issue at hand, but it's still important, IMO. I know I am not the only one who has complaints with some of the particular photos people nominate, and if the owner got to choose the photo, they could put in their personal favorite.

Also want to say I'm sorry to see the Sorrell has felt she had to pull her photo out. Monarch is a beautiful fish, and since it isn't photo of the month, I think he should be allowed. Either way, I am still feeling that rules need to be updated/changed/added for the contests... I may be another one who decides to not take part in the future. I look forward to seeing what the mods decide.

also if the mods would maybe look into people begging to be nominated. I think that cheapens the nomination, you had to beg someone to do it. If a fish is sharp , they will be nominated.
