I have just planted my small tank with a LOT of plants! I am wondering what is the best thing to get to feed on any rotting plants? Snails?

I know some people love them, some hate them. I have hear a theory of them multiplying like crazy and causing trouble, but at the same time, i hear they are great at eating up rotting plants and will die off when there is no food!

Or is there another alternative to snails?

Will pakistani loach bother them at all?

Ensure the plants dont rot by providing the appropriate light, nutrients and CO2.
Pick out any rotting leaves/plants by hand/tweezers.

THis is for my small tank - i have got plants suitable for my light. I do not plan to add any ferts or CO2 for this tank - i think theat should be fine with the plants i have. But of course, i am new to these plants, so some trial and error will be had. BUT.... it is heavily planted, and will be extremely difficult to get to every part of my tank, and hence, every leaf.

Hence why i was thinking about snails....

So, yeh or nay for snails, and if nay, what other options other than the obvious manual method!

Snails are a good choice then. The Loach will make a meal out of some of them. I'd go for Trumpet snails. They breed quickly and so their reproduction rate might out weigh the rate in which they are eaten, who knows.

Thats great, thanks for the help!
