I’ve just thought... CO2 is Carbon Dioxide, Yes? EasyCarbo is a Carbon Fertiliser, Yes? So Rotala ideally should be OK with it, Yes? The Rotala I have needs CO2 to survive but seems to be able to thrive outside... The place I got it from, Middletons Pet's and Gardens, puts any excess plants outside and they an stay out there for months and survive. Currently there's Amazon Sword, Red Rotala and Cryptocoryne Wendtii out there and it's been there a good 3 weeks already and surviving... I have Rotala Rotundifolia and Rotala Wallichiii. Both of which were outside for a good 2 weeks before I got them and they have so far coloured up already. Both a nice red colour. I have a 4ft Juwel Light Unit across my 3ft tank with an Arcadia Power Glo 40W T8 and a Juwel Aquarium Day-Lite 38W T8. Apparently when the light is in good supply to the plants the shoot tips turn bright red... Well these have. Am I going to have any luck at all?

May just be plucking at straws here but if they need approx 2 watt's of light per gallon... The tank is 105 Litres so around about 23 Gallons :)

Any help would be appreciated... I just don't want to have to set up CO2, I know it would help and make all the plants a lot happier but I don't have the time, money or confidence to set it up. Been told that if you get something wrong it can kill all your fish

I don't know exactly, but I've read a few people say that some plants need bright light but for shorter period because excessive daylight time with the lights on depleats the CO2 until there is too much demand for the supply to the detriment of the plants.

See, I would say that was too much, I'm sure some people will agree and others disagree.

The plants survive outside because they are grown immersed and then put in the shop tanks, if they put them outside they are just growing immersed again so they will be happy. Hight light is not needed, good CO2 diffusion is what keeps plants red so might be worth giving it a go, bare in mind they will melt when put in your tank as they need to change to submerged growth.

He puts them in a bucket of water outside...
Can you help me if I list all the plants I have? Please? My first planted tank and I'd like it to go right if possible :)

Plant list.
Heteranthera Zosterifolia(Stargrass)
Ceratopteris Thalictroides(Indian Fern)
Echinodorus Amazonicus (Amazon Sword)
Echinodorus Parviflorus(Rosette Sword)
Cryptocoryne Wendtii
Ludwigia Repens(Red Ludwigia)
Nymphaea Lotus(Tiger Lotus)
Rotala Wallichii
Rotala Rotundifolia
Poss Vallisneria Americana
and last my lone Strand of Elodea Canadensis(Elodea) which is thriving XD

Any help is highly appreciated on these plants. All seems to be going well and they're all growing nicely... The Stargrass espeially since it's taking over the surface after only being in there a week...

In that case the new shoots are doing well and they will be the submerged growing parts, just be prepared in case they melt back and then you wanna re plant the new growth. The only oneyou may struggle with is Wallichi as it collects lots of debris and has some high requirements.

I've got the Wallichi in a faster flow area so it doesn't collect too much debris, had that problem with a cabomba I had a few years a go. My Elodea is just a single strand that is thriving despite apparently being cold water when this tank is at 28c...

Cool well just keep an eye on the Wallichi as I know it prefers CO2 rich tanks.
